Refrigerator Ice maker production test, How to Test your refrigerator’s Ice maker and water valve for proper diagnosis. This article is in regards to Maytag, Whirlpool, refrigerator’s Ice maker.

Is the Ice maker bad? Or is it the water valve?
Great question, here is how to test.

Remove the front of the ice maker, the timer housing has small plastic tabs that hold it in place.

Jumping the refrigerators Ice maker timer contact, L to V with a insulated jumper wire water should start water flowing to the Ice maker. If water comes down the fill tube with these contacts jumped, the Ice maker has failed.

If no water flows you will need to investigate further, to determine the problem.

Start by looking at the fill tube, the tube that runs in from the back is known as the fill tube.

If your water valve is going bad or you have low water pressure issue’s, the fill tube could become iced over. If the fill tube is clear proceed to the rear of the unit to test the water valve.

Volt meter in hand and the L to V jumped the water valve terminals should be reading 110v, If the fill tube is clear and the water solenoid has 110v present the valve will need to be replaced.
