CL means that your washing machine’s CHILD LOCK is ON. You can find two buttons Temp and Options in the panel.

Turn ON the machine, press these two buttons together for 3 seconds and that’s it.

It might have a little kids face above a lock key, in between the wash and rinse buttons, hold these for 3/5 seconds and it should work.

      • Hi Mathew I m having same problem cl lock o tried unlocking it but it’s not working
        Please help

      • THANK YOU. My washer is a new one and I just wanted to add that your advice lead me to the solution but I wanted to add that for mine, it is on the front with all the other buttons (lower right) and reads “WATER PLUS *Child Lock). The “normal” use for it is to add extra water to the load because the sensing device barely adds enough to cover the clothes (often never even that much). All that is left for me now is to see if on my next load, the little lyrical noise sounds when the washer is first turned on because that quit at the same time (MUCH LESS important, but it is only a couple of months old).

    • FYI, On the newer LG machines you only have to hold one button for three seconds “prewash/child lock”

  36. Cheers for your help it’s now the end of September and still waiting for a reply, crap customer service is an under statement, what a joke πŸ™ πŸ™

  37. Thank you SO MUCH! You MADE MY DAY! My washer is only a week old and my wife is out of town. I thought, OMG I’ve broken the machine. The washer said CL but my manual did not list the code for CL. I was shocked. A code but no reference. I put the washer make and model number in Google and yours was the first answer I saw. On this late 2016 model, there is an asterik and a little star below the Soil Level butoon. In very small print it says Child Lock. I held it for 3 seconds and everything was working again. Thanks. I must have leaned on the panel and locked it.

  38. Thank you very much for this information which was not on the LG website. I just got my machine today and I thought I broke it already!

  39. My wash code CL I try code to unlock it didn’t do please tell what else I can do thank
