Direct driver washer, how to remove the washers cabinet. This is a simple process, here are the necessary steps involved for this type of washer. Whirlpool has four different revisions on this particular model, the screws are located on the back corner of the control panel in this demonstration.

Steps involved to remove washer’s cabinet:

-Gain access to rear of control panel

-Remove the screws in each corner

When both screws are removed from the control panel, rotate the control panel up and back, pictured below.

We now should have access to the inside of the washers control panel, unclip the lid switch. The lid switch prevents the washer from starting unless the lid is in the closed position. Pictured below is a direct drive washers panel in the upright position.

With the washers lid switch detached the next step is to remove the two gold retainer clips. These clips hold the cabinet to the chassis of the washer. When removed the washers cabinet will lift from the back up and slide forward.

Remember with the lid switch removed, the washer will not spin, you are able to fill the washer up without the lid switch connected, the washer will not spin or drain unless connected. You are able to bypass the lid switch if you can read the schematic, if you are unsure how to, please refer to our appliance repair forum.
