Disconnect power before attempting any appliance repair!
To change the mains filter control on a Fisher Paykel dishwasher is relatively simple. The lower drawer of the dishwasher will need to be pulled out and set aside. To do this the tabs in the lower front corners need to be depressed and pushed back. The link below is a video that explains how to remove the lower drawer to access the mains filter as well as the actuators.
With the lower drawer out, the plastic water cover over the board will need to be removed. Using a small flat head screw driver, depress the tab on the front of the cover that holds the cover in place. The mains filter will now be exposed once the cover has been removed. The power wires for the dishwasher connect to this filter board as well as the power lines for the actuators, heating element, and water valve. Removing the small screw that mount the board followed by pushing the locking tab forward, will release the control board assembly.
Often this board will fail creating a false F1 error code. If you have removed the lower drawer and no water is present the mains filter may be faulty. The video above also explains how to put a Fisher Paykel dishwasher into diagnostics and activate the lid actuators. If the lid does not come down all the way, water will leak out of the top of the drawer and into the bottom pan shorting the contacts on the mains filter resulting and the F1 error code.
