How to fix a Maytag dishwasher right the first time. Maytag uses 110 volts on most models to open the water valve solenoid. Again, on most Maytag dishwasher the fill valve is located behind the dishwashers toe kick panel. Four screws mount this panel to the dishwasher. With the screws removed the toe kick will slide out of position and can be set aside.

The water valve should be located on the left side for most modern Maytag dishwashers. Use a volt meter to check for voltage to the water valve. When the dishwasher should be filling with water, 110v should be present to the valve. If 110v is present and the valve is not allowing water to go into the tub, the valve needs to be replaced or the water from your house needs to be turned on. The water valve is held down with two small screws. Removing the screws will release the valve so the water line and fitting can be removed. Follow these steps in reverse to install the new water valve.

Not getting voltage to the water valve would indicate a different issue with the water level switch or the control/timer. You can also check voltage on both of these components.
