Ge refrigerators are very popular in the USA. They are in a lot of homes in our local service area so we see a lot of GE’s products.

One very common issue that we continually see is a frozen water line in the door. This is a common issue on the SXS GE refrigerators. The fix for this issue is to install a small plug and play type heater that prevents the line in the freezer side door from freezing.

Now to determine if the water line in the door is frozen or not is actually very simple. The toe kick on the bottom front of the unit will need to be removed. Next a quick connection called a john guest fitting will be visible. Remove the water connection and press the paddle at the door. Does water come out? Perfect then you need to order and install the kit in the link below to fix this issue.

If water still does not come out of the line, you may have a faulty water valve. The water valve is located on the back of the unit where the compressor is. Removing the small access panel will give access to the compressor, condenser fan motor, and the water valve. The connections are all plug and play type. You can make a test at the two wires on the valve to determine if power is being sent to the valve when the dispenser paddle is pressed.
