Is your Frigidaire dishwashers soap cup not opening? Will the soap cup dispenser not close? Learning how to replace a Frigidaire soap cup is actually really easy.

The first thing you want to do is unplug or flip the breaker off so no power is going to the dishwasher.

The nest step is removing the front panel of the dishwasher. It’s really easy. There are two philip head screws in the middle of the inner door liner. Once the two screws are removed the front panel will slide down and off the of the door. There are metal slotted clips on the door that hold it in place. Once you get the two screws off you will see the slots in the outer door panel and the two hooks on the door frame.

Now that the door is removed the dispenser can be accessed. You will see 6 screws on the soap cup and a plug and play type connector on the wax motor. Unplug the connection at the brown wax motor. Now three screws on the top of the dispenser and three on the bottom. The dispenser will now push through the door so it can be replaced.

The new dispenser comes with a new gasket already installed. Press the new dispenser assembly back into the door from the inside. Screw the 6 screws back into the dispenser and plug the wires back onto the two prongs of the brown wax motor. This is a fairly simple job if you are handy.

Often a dishwasher’s soap cup dispenser will fail, when this happens the soap will not dispense into the dishwasher, leaving dirty dishes at the end of the dishwasher cycle.

Gaining access to the dishwasher’s soap cup is done by removing the screws that are located around the inner door panel. These screws can be either Torq or Philip head screws. I have attached a video that shows where the screws are located and how to replace the dishwasher soap cup assembly.

After removal of the inner door panel screws the door will separate. Take the front panel and control panel off, now the soap cup dispenser will be visible. Pictured here, inner door screws are removed, control panel and front panel are now ready to come off.

Now that you have access to your dishwasher’s soap cup, the screws that anchor the dispenser to the door will need to be removed. These screws are normally small in size and can range from 3/16 to ¼ usually.

Pictured here is the dishwasher’ soap cup,  the arrows point to the small 3/16 screws that need to be removed. Also note the wires will need to come off the solenoid before final removal of the soap cup assembly.

Replacing a faulty dishwasher soap cup is done by removing the front panel of the dishwasher.

Start by removing the screws around the inner door liner, gaining access by separating the door will allow access to the soap cup dispenser.

Some models have small screws holding the soap cup to the door, Bosch dishwasher soap cups are held in place with metal locking tabs.

With the screws removed or tabs bent push the soap cup from the door liner. You will need to disconnect the wires that attach to the soap cup and reinstall on the new assembly.

The dishwashers door will need to be installed before you run a test cycle.  If the jet dry indicator will not shut off and the dispenser is full the soap cup assembly will need to be replaced to fix the issue.
